About Us

...really this should say "About what God is doing with us"...

Our profile

We are missionaries serving on the Global Church Development team with the Evangelical Free Church Mission, ReachGlobal. We live in Aurora, IL. We have been married 32 years, have 3 married sons and 3 grandchildren.

Our burden

Up to 70% of the unreached world are from oral cultures and therefore don't respond well to literary methods of teaching. As many as 75% of the entire world can't read, don't read or won't read the Bible.

Our mission

Training national church planters, pastors and leaders as well as USA missionaries and churches to reach oral cultures with the Gospel.

Our objective

To give oral learners access to the Word of God through an "oral Bible".

Our strategy

We train leaders to learn, tell and teach select Bible stories and passages.
We insist that the Word of God is communicated in their native tongue, using everyday language, but completely and accurately.
We instruct how to ask questions of understanding and application, and allow their listeners to discover biblical concepts for themselves.
We record biblical passages in indigenous languages so that those who truly have no access to written Scripture can learn them accurately.

Our technique

Churches invite us to conduct training events for church planters, pastors, missionaries and leaders. In an interactive workshop setting, we teach select sets of chronological Bible stories and passages, using methods that are suited to oral learners.

Our projects

We currently oversee projects in Papua New Guinea, Peru, Nicaragua, Guatemala and the United States. Based in Aurora, we travel to each project location 1-4 times a year. The average length of stay in each location varies - from 1 week to 3 months, depending on the need. We also train and support missionaries and national pastors who serve in oral cultures.
